5.2.3 Level C.
5.2.3.1 Repair parts, maintenance tools, and technical publications. Repair parts and technical publications shall be preserved and packaged as specified for level A. Maintenance tools shall not require preservation but shall be placed in the toolbox as specified for level A.
5.2.3.2 Other components. Preservation and packaging of all other components of the unit shall afford protection against deterioration and damage from the supplier to the initial destination. The supplier's standard commercial practice is acceptable when it fulfills these requirements.
5.3 Packing. Packing shall be level A or c as specified (see 6.2).
5.3.1 Level A. The units shall be prepared for mobile shipment. When sufficient space is available, packaged and unpackaged components and sections shall be placed and secured on the unit in any available space that will not interfere with the lifting or mobility of the unit. The components shall be secured to the unit with zinc-coated strapping conforming to QQ-S-781 or QQ-S-790. Packaged and unpackaged components and sections that cannot be secured to the
unit shall be packed in crates conforming to PPP-C-650, style A, or MIL-C-3774, nailed
assembly, skid-type base. Blocking, bracing, and anchoring shall be in accordance with the applicable crate specification and with MIL-STD-1186. Crate components shall be shipped at the same time as the mobile unit.
5.3.2 Level C. The complete unit shall be prepared for shipment in a manner to assure carrier acceptance and safe delivery to destination at lowest rating. The unit shall be prepared
for mobile shipment. When sufficient space is available, packaged and unpackaged components and sections shall be placed and secured on the unit in any available space that will not interfere
with lifting or mobility. Packaged and unpackaged sections that cannot be secured to the unit shall be packed in crates complying with Uniform Freight Classification Rules or National Motor
Freight Classification Rules. Crated components shall be shipped at the same time as the unit.
5.4 Marking. Packages, shipping containers, and mobile plants shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
6. NOTES
6.1 Intended use. The washing and screening unit is intended for use in screening and washing rock aggregate as a part of a 75 ton per hour rock crushing and screening plant.
