4.6.2.3.2 Truck and dolly-semitrailer compatibility test. With the Government-loaned M917
dump truck and dolly-semitrailer in towing position, jackknife the truck-dolly-semitrailer
combination until the centerline of the truck is at an angle of at least 60 degrees with the
centerline of the dolly. Next, tow the dolly-semitrailer combination at minimum truck turning
radius to the right and to the left. Test all lights. Repeat the tests using the Government-loaned
M916 truck-tractor in lieu of the M917 dump truck. Interference between the truck and any part
of the dolly or semitrailer, or lights not functioning shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.3.3 Truck and semitrailer compatibility test. Couple the Government loaned M916
truck-tractor to the semitrailer and tow the combination at the minimum turning radius of the
truck to the right and to the left. Repeat the tests with the Government-loaned M920
truck-tractor. Jackknife each truck-tractor to an angle of at least 90 degrees with respect to the
semitrailer. Incompatibility with either the truck or truck-tractor, or interference with the truck
or truck-tractor by any part of the trailer shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.3.4 Dolly and semitrailer compatibility test. With the dolly and semitrailer in travel
position, hold the lunette between 32 and 34 inches from the ground and turn the towbar at least
110 degrees to the right and to the left of the centerline of the semitrailer. Interference between
the dolly and any part of the semitrailer shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.3.5 Railroad and air transport. Sectionalize and reassemble the crusher.
Nonconformance to 3.17.2, and 3.17.3 shall constitute failure of these tests. The tests for
sectionalization and for lifting and tiedown attachments may be accomplished in conjunction
with the tests specified in 4.6.2.3.6.
4.6.2.3.6 Lifting and tiedown attachments. Apply the static load specified in 3.22 for lifting
attachments and 3.23 for tiedown attachments after the attachments are mounted on the crusher
or section, as applicable. The direction of the applied load shall be in the direction in which the
load is normally applied. Weld failure or permanent deformation of the attachment or of any
component of the crusher or section shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.3.7 Tiedown attachments (dynamic). Anchor each section of the crusher
independently, as sectionalized for rail transport, to a flatcar using only the tiedown attachments.
Use no blocking. Hump the flatcar at a speed of 7 miles per hour against five boxcars with their
brakes set. Repeat the test with the opposite end of the section in the direction of the five cars.
Any permanent deformation or breakage of the tiedown attachments or parts of the section shall
constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.4 Electromagnetic interference. The preproduction model shall be tested to determine
conformance with 3.19. The contractor shall furnish the contracting officer the report of tests.
Disapproval of the report shall constitute failure of this test.
