4.6.2.1.3 Jaw settings. When the crusher is tested as a unit, the jaw settings shall be as
follows:

When the crusher is tested as a plant, the jaw settings shall be compatible with the roll crusher to

Capacity in tons per hour and corresponding jaw setting shall be recorded as part of test reports.
4.6.2.2 Capacity as a plant.
4.6.2.2.1 Capacity as a unit. Operate the crusher under the applicable test conditions
specified in 4.6.2.1 through 4.6.2.1.3. Cumulative daily runs are permissible. Nonconformance
to test conditions or to 3.1.1(a) and 3.12 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.2.2 Capacity as a plant. Operate the crusher under the applicable test conditions
specified in 4.6.2.1 through 4.6.2.1.3. Cumulative daily runs are permissible. Nonconformance
to test conditions or to 3.1.1(b) and 3.12 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.2.3 Flywheel test. During the capacity tests, measure the speed of the flywheel for a
continuous period of 3 minutes, during which the crusher is loaded to maximum capacity with
rock. Compare this flywheel speed to the flywheel speed when the crusher is operating empty.
Nonconformance to 3.12.6 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.2.4 Uncrushable material test. With the crusher operating at capacity rate, drop a piece
of uncrushable material such as tramp iron, into the crusher. The piece shall be larger than the
maximum jaw opening at the jaw setting being used, but not more than 2 inches larger.
Nonconformance to 3.12.7 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.2.5 Apron feeder test. With the loading hopper empty and the feeder operating,
discharge one rock with dimensions not greater than maximum crusher size and weighing not
less than 1,000 pounds onto the apron feeder from a height of 8 feet above the feeder surface.
Repeat this test not less than 10 times. Any operating difficulty, permanent deformation, or
breakage of any part of the crusher shall constitute failure of this test.
